The skies opened and the sun was out for a beautiful Canada Day Celebration.

The Benito Rec Centre hosted a terrific day full of fun events for all ages.

Starting the day was a pancake breakfast hosted by the Benito Volunteer Fire Dept. Over 350 people enjoyed the kickoff to the day.

Children were entertained with face painting and games that had prizes for everyone who participated. For the avid slow pitch fan two diamonds were busy with family friendly games; gymkhana in the rink, and wagon rides for all ages.

Many people enjoyed some horseshoes and to top off the evening, standing room only for a fastball game showcasing the Swan River Reds against the West Parkland Stars.

Musical sounds echoed the beer gardens as the talents of Terri and The Side Dishes capped the festivities.

Before the night was over the old race track was consumed with many people wanting to catch a glimpse of the terrific fireworks. Many thanks to all the volunteers who worked so hard to make this day a success. We invite you all back next year.
