Swan River RCMP Investigate Armed Robbery

On the 5th of February, 2014 at about 9 pm, the Swan River RCMP were dispatched via `911` to an Armed Robbery that had just occurred at the gas bar along highway #10, about 50 km north of Swan River, MB on the Indian Birch Indian Reserve (Wuskwi Sipihk First Nation).

Three (3) adult males wearing gloves, balaclavas, and brandishing metal ‘poles’ entered the gas bar, stole the cash register, and an undisclosed amount of cash.

No reported injuries.

Investigation lead to two (2) male adults being arrested later that night and taken into custody. A third male is at large.

Joseph George Brass (29 year old), of Indian Birch Indian Reserve (Wuskwi Sipihk Cree Nation) has been charged with Robbery with an Offensive Weapon, Disguised with Intent to Commit Offence, amongst other related criminal charges.

Johnny Stewart Cook (28 year old), of Shoal River Indian Reserve (Sapotaweyak Cree Nation) has been charged with Robbery with on Offensive Weapon, Disguised with intent to Commit Offence, amongst other related criminal charges.

Brass and Cook have been remanded into custody to appear in Dauphin Provincial Court on February 10, 2014.
