The Swan Valley Hoedowners Square Dance club got the new season rolling on Wednesday by welcoming several new dancers to their weekly dance.

Caller Linda Gilchrist began the evening by putting all the dancers in a large circle and explaining and practicing some basic square dance moves.

As the evening progressed, the dancers moved into squares and were introduced to such moves as dosado, weave, right and left grand, circulate, bend the line, swing, pass through, right and left through, and several others.

The new dancers got moving to the music both in squares and in a big circle as all the dancers got involved in a couple of mixer dances as well.

Regular square dancing continues on Wednesday nights at 7 p.m. at the Senior Centre in Swan River. New dancers, young and old, partnered or single, are warmly welcomed to attend and next week’s square dance on October 9 is free for them.
