The walk also served as show support for the students in the Swan Valley.

“Many students in the Valley have difficulty staying in school because of issues academically, at home, in the community or with friends,” commented Lorna Munro who started the walk 4 years ago.

“For them to have a successful year, they need all the help they can get, so we ask our grandmothers past and present to support our children so they can have a successful year,” added Munro.

Various walks were organized around the Valley and included participants from other community organizations such as Communities that Care, Grandmothers for Africa and Prairie Mountain Health.
