Motor Vehicle Collision with a Pedestrian

Swan River RCMP Report | On August 30, 2013 at about 10 pm, Mafeking Fire Dept, Parkland EMS and Swan River RCMP responded to a 911 call regarding a motor vehicle collision with a pedestrian along Hwy 10 in Mafeking, MB.

A north bound 1998 Mecury Sable struck a 16 year old male pedestrian.

The 16 year old male from Indian Birch Indian Reserve (aka: Wuskwi Sipihk Cree Nation) was transported with a severe, non-life threatening condition to Swan River Health Centre, and was later sent to another facility for further assessment.

Speed does not appear to be a factor.

The 35 year old female driver was sober.

Alcohol may have been a distracting factor with the pedestrian.

Swan River RCMP & the RCMP Traffic Services Traffic Analyst continue to investigate.
