On July 28, 2013 at about 5 am Swan River RCMP and Parkland EMS were dispatched to an assault with a weapon in Shoal River Indian Reserve (Sapotaweyak Cree Nation). A party saw a situation turn from argument to an assault.


A 19 year old female inflicted injury to a 27 year old male (both from Shoal River I.R.) with an edged weapon. The male was transported via ambulance to the Swan Valley Health Centre where he received multiple stitches for non-life threatening injuries, and was subsequently released.

The 19 year old female has been arrested and released on conditions.

Charges of Assault with a Weapon and Possess a Weapon Dangerous to the Public are pending. Charges have not yet been sworn – Police will not be releasing names at this point.

Police investigation continues. No further information is available at this time.
