Endoscopy Services at Swan Valley Health Centre

Prairie Mountain Health News Release

Swan River residents and those in the surrounding areas now have access at home to an important specialized medical procedure that can help confirm the diagnosis of cancer.

Today, Health Minister Theresa Oswald announced the Manitoba government is investing in new endoscopy equipment for the Swan Valley Health Centre.

“When you or a loved one needs health care, you want to receive it as fast as possible and as close to home as possible. I am very pleased that this important provincial investment will allow for endoscopy services to be provided in Swan River,” said Oswald. “Swan Valley residents requiring this procedure will soon be able to stay in their community and receive expert, high quality diagnosis for potentially serious illnesses.”

The provincial investment of $350,000 allowed for the purchase of specialized equipment that will enable gastroscopy and colonoscopy procedures to be completed at the centre. Endoscopes can help confirm the diagnosis of conditions such as colorectal cancer and can also be used for biopsies and other procedures.
