Town of Minitonas Minutes – May 1, 2013

Regular Meeting of the members of Council of the Town of Minitonas, held in the Council Chambers, Minitonas, Manitoba this 1st day of May, 2013 A.D. at 9:30 p.m.

1. W. Robb – S. Windsor
RESOLVED THAT the Agenda be adopted as presented.
Carried.

2. D. Bartel – J. Caruk
RESOLVED THAT the minutes of the Regular Meetings of Council held on April 3rd, 2013 & April 17th, 2013 and the minutes of the Special Meeting of Council held on April 4th, 2013 shall be adopted as circulated.
Carried.

3. S. Windsor – J. Caruk
RESOLVED THAT the Minitonas Town Council agrees to contract Reta Jones for cleaning at the Minitonas Hall under the terms and conditions attached hereto.
Carried.

4. W. Robb – D. Bartel
WHEREAS the Public Works Employee Overtime Reports have been received & reviewed by Council;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT all applicable overtime hours recorded for the month of April, 2013 shall be approved and paid out with the May 15th, 2013 payroll or booked for future use as indicated on the aforementioned reports, copies of which have been attached hereto.

5. D. Bartel – J. Caruk
RESOLVED THAT By-Law No. 1/2013, being a By-Law of the Town of Minitonas for the purpose of establishing a rate for special services as outlined in Special Service Plan No. 1/2013 for the years 2013-2018 inclusive, shall be read a second time this 1st day of May, 2013 A.D.

6. W. Robb- S. Windsor
WHEREAS the Town of Minitonas has received funding for a summer student under the HomeTown Green Team Program;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Council agrees to hire Janel Sagert for the aforementioned position, with a start date of May 6, 2013 and a completion date of August 30th, 2013.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT the job description and wages shall be set in accordance with the application for funding under the Hometown Green-Team Program, and all Workplace Safety Regulations shall be reviewed with the successful candidate prior to beginning their employment.

7. D. Bartel – J. Caruk
WHEREAS the closure of PTH 10 due to flooding has created substantial hardship for the residents and businesses of the Town of Minitonas, and;
WHEREAS the road used as a temporary detour cannot sustain the traffic volumes and has become unsafe;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT we urge Manitoba Infrastructure and Transportation to rectify the situation so that traffic can be restored to PTH 10.

8. W. Robb – J. Caruk
RESOLVED THAT we do now adjourn at 10:15 pm to meet again for the next regular meeting of Council to be held on the 15th day of May, 2013 A.D. at 7:00 pm.
