Village Of Benito Minutes – February 26, 2013

A Regular Meeting of Council of the Village of Benito was called to order at 7:00 pm on Tuesday February 26, 2013 in the Village Council Chambers.
Present – Mayor Meadows, Deputy Mayor Scouten; Councilor Offenberger; Councilor Zebinski; Councilor Schneider
Chief Administrative Officer – Pat Ellingson

Mayor Meadows called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm.

SCOUTEN
RESOLVED that the minutes of the regular meeting of Council held on January 29, 2013 be adopted as presented.
Carried.

2.
SCHNEIDER
OFFENBERGER
RESOLVED that the agenda for the regular meeting held on February 26, 2013 be adopted as presented.
Carried.

3.

RESOLVED that By-law #01/13, being a Bylaw of the Village of Benito to maintain property and regulate nuisance, derelict, abandoned and unsightly property be read a third time and passed this 26th day of February 2013 A.D., signed by the mayor and signed and sealed by the Chief Administrative Officer.

RESOLVED that accounts numbered 24535 to 24570 in the amount totaling $31,953.06 be ratified as paid.

RESOLVED that the Financial Statement for the month ending January 31, 2013 be accepted as presented.
Carried.

WHEREAS the Village of Benito deems it to be in the best interest of the municipality to have regular collection of metal waste for recycling at the Benito Nuisance Grounds; and
WHEREAS the Village has had an ongoing agreement with Swan River Scrap Metal to provide this service and wish to update said agreement;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Village of Benito renew the agreement with Swan River Scrap Metal and that the agreement will remain in force until terminated by either party on ninety (90) days written notice.

RESOLVED that the February Animal Control Report be accepted as presented by the Animal Control Officer.
Carried.

RESOLVED that SUM OF $7550.00 be hereby authorized for transfer from the Recreation Trust Fund to the Village of Benito General Operating Fund.

WHEREAS municipalities are obligated under The Noxious Weeds Act Section 11(1) to appoint a weed inspector in each year;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that The Village of Benito appoint Donald Ellingson as Weed Inspector for the municipality for the year 2013.

RESOLVED that the Village of Benito authorize payment of the following invoices:
1. MMAA Annual Membership $ 220.00
2. Munisoft Annual software support $3,142.72
3. Crime Stoppers $ 40.00
4. SV Crisis Centre Inc. $ 100.00
5. SLW Conservation District
First payment annual levy $ 125.00
6. W.F. Schneider 2013 Fire truck Insurance $2,081.00

WHEREAS the Employee overtime report for the month of January have been received and reviewed by Council;
BE IT RESOLVED that the hours recorded be accepted as presented and the January overtime reports be approved for payment.

RESOLVED that the Village Office be closed on Friday February 15, 2013.
Carried.

BE IT RESOLVED that the Regular meeting of Council scheduled for Tuesday February 12, 2013 be hereby cancelled.

RESOLVED that we do adjourn the regular meeting of Council at 11:00 p.m.
