The walk began at the Swan Valley Regional Secondary School, continued on to Taylor School, Canadian Mental Health, Ecole Swan River South School and finished at the Swan River Friendship Centre.

Following the walk, lunch was served at the Friendship Centre.

The first Grandmothers Protecting Our Children Sacred Walk was held in Winnipeg in 2007 by Aboriginal grandmothers calling for a stop to the abuse of children and sending a message to exploited children that they are victims of abuse, that their voices and cries are heard and that they are not alone.
