Jim has lived in Los Angeles for 22 years and has written for networks and studios and Emperor of Mars is his first novel. The book tells its story through the eyes of a 12-year old boy who hears a radio broadcast that suggests someone called the Emperor of Mars is coming to Earth. Based on a real incident, the story follows what happens to the townspeople in the fictional town of Empire as the day comes near.

While the book is categorized as Young Adult, its also attracting baby boomers who grew up in the 1950’s and 60’s. While most Benito residents will recognize many places, the story could be set in any prairie town. There are also plans to make the Emperor of Mars into a movie in 2013.
