Sapotaweyak Signs Agreement with Swan River

Sapotaweyak Cree Nation Chief Nelson Genaille and Swan River Mayor Glen McKenzie signed a Municipal Development and Services agreement on Thursday, March 15, 2012.


Members of Sapotaweyak Cree Nation, councilors, youth and members of the public gathered at the Swan River Friendship Centre to witness the signing of the agreement that is part of the process of converting land to reserve status.

Sapotaweyak Creen Nation purchased the property at 108 – 6th Avenue North and has been working together with the Town of Swan River to negotiate the agreement. Chief Nelson Genaille stated, “It’s about dealing and negotiating and developing friendships and business partners.”

Following the signing, the Chief presented a gift to the Mayor.
